About

GALLERY WENZL, ESTABLISHED IN 2000 IN OAKVILLE, ON, IS NOW AN ON-LINE GALLERY THAT PROMOTES, EXHIBITS AND SELLS ORIGINAL ART, CREATED IN A VARIETY OF MEDIUMS, FROM RAINER WENZL AND OTHER ARTISTS.

Rainer Wenzl

Rainer Wenzl is a multi-media artist whose work spans watercolour, historical photographic processes, and augmented reality. Based in Shediac, NB, and formerly a visual arts educator, he blends contemporary techniques with traditions such as gum-bichromate photography.

His paintings often depict people at work, capturing the dignity of everyday labour. Some merge watercolour with interactive digital elements—QR codes that, when scanned, reveal animated, immersive experiences. This fusion of art and technology invites viewers to engage with his narratives on a deeper level, fostering appreciation for the beauty in daily life.

His latest series, "Watercolour Realities" is a unique fusion of traditional watercolour painting and cutting-edge augmented reality technology. What sets "Watercolour Realities" apart is the integration of augmented reality.

By scanning the watercolour painting’s QR code with a mobile app or device, viewers are transported into an immersive digital realm. Here, the scenes come to life. This dynamic interaction invites the audience to engage with the narratives he’s crafted on a deeper level.

Ultimately, "Watercolour Realities" celebrates the human spirit, the dignity of labor, and the wonder of artistic experimentation. Through this series, he hopes to provoke contemplation, empathy, and appreciation for the everyday work that surrounds us, bridging the gap between art, technology, and human experience.
